All of the arts discussed within this website originated in China, but have over time, been disseminated worldwide. As such, the Chinese system of writing is a key to unlocking the knowledge and wisdom contained here. It is my philosophy that one cannot understand these arts & sciences without at least some understanding of the Chinese language, specifically its writing system, as that is the universal component.

Asian peoples and cultures speak very different languages, as, or more diverse than European tongues, but share an ability to ‘read/understand’ ‘characters’ (the meaning component), and you can partake as well. The purpose of this section is to acquaint you with the basics and develop at least some familiarity and appreciation of the rudiments.

I promise it will greatly enhance your understanding, and let me be honest, you cannot appreciate these arts in a vacuum devoid of the culture and mindset that created them. And the root of that is in the writing.
